CongregationIn 1913 a group of immigrant believers gathered to form the Swedish Evangelical Free Church, which later became the First Evangelical Free Church of Los Angeles.
The current building was built with the enormous sacrifice and skill of its early members. It was dedicated in 1925.
The cornerstone says, “Erected to the Glory
of God and the Salvation of Souls.”

During the eight decades that the building has been in use, thousands of songs, messages, prayers, and teaching times have occurred that have been to God’s glory. Also, most important and gratifying, hundreds
of souls have been saved. The founders could not have imagined that one day hymns, prayers, and teaching would take place not only in Swedish and English but also in Chinese, Spanish, French, Swahili, and Lingala.
